After I send my footage to Color (1.0.4) in FCP (6.0.6) with the Red Studio 2 Installer (v1.0).. all my footage is turned to scrambled eggs..

Curious if I am doing something wrong or if I have a setting messed up or just one of those anomalies that occur when trying to be productive.

I have tried both the log and transfer with native settings and the file import at Half res. both yield same results.

Cheers!

Without some more info, and maybe some screenshots, it's hard to diagnose the problem...

You need fcp 7/Color 1.5 to work with R3D footage natively in Color.

I've got my system working very smoothly now - something to look forward to...

That's actually not correct. You need FCP7/Color 1.5 to work with *4K* natively. 2K works fine in Color 1.

Ok.. so now I have updated to FCP 7 and Color 1.5 installed the Studio 3 Install..

Now instead of scrambled eggs (think white noise) I am getting all solid green footage.. neither importing the Files or using Log and Transfer is acknowledging my footage..

My footage is good cause I have gone through it all in R3D and Clipfinder..

I am shooting Red build 21.0.1 in 4.5k at 24fps in RedCode42 2.33:1, 3k at 50fps in RedCode36 16x9. not to mention the 4k 24fps in RedCode36 16x9..

its all solid green and unusable..

Cheers.

OK.

I beleive that the QT codec does not yet support 4.5K. You may have to transcode all of your footage with Red Rushes or Clipfinder to edit it or to Color Correct it.

Im just going to re-install everything.. will keep ya posted..

cheers

David's on the money with this one. That's where the "Extra Info" I asked about earlier is helpful.

4.5K is not supported in quicktime at this point, so you're pretty much SOL as far as editing/grading natively.

Make yourself some ProRes editing proxies with RedRushes or Clipfinder, then conform to DPX or your preferred ProRes flavor for Grading.

Well I reinstalled Studio 3 and everything works fine. Apparently there was trouble with the Red Install for Studio 3 when I upgraded and Red Studio 2 Install was still active.

Thanks to Andrew Benz for sorting out the situation.

I am going to try to Log and Transfer Native 4.5k to FCP 7 and run Magic Bullet 1.2 as it supports up to 8k on high end video cards and then try a separate rough color time in RedAlert and Log and Transfer with the RSX Metadata and put final touches with the 3-way color in the Time line.

keep ya posted.

Cheers

Ah - thanks for the clarification.
