Just noticed that Blueshape announced their MVQUICK - hotswap battery product for RED. It does the exact same as the Bebob ML-120 - except it's not made to screw onto a battery mount. It click onto your existing v-lock battery mount and extends it a new v-lock mount. Looks nice - and the price is quite a bit lower than that of the ML-120. Looks like Bebob will have to lower their price to compete with this product. I still like the Bebob better because it has a real IDX battery mount and a very visible warning-light when the battery needs to be replaced.

Check out the MVQUICK here: http://www.blueshape.net/adapters_mvquick.asp?lng=

And just to be fair - a link to the Bebob: http://www.bebob.de/produkte/?product=6608

I like options!

Hi,

Yes. I saw this at IBC2009.
It is in my opinion, better than Bebop's, never mind the price. I've been told its got over 20Wh inside. No Red should ever die during a battery swap! A clever charging system keeps it always healthy and ready to go. Further, it can pass data from brick to camera. Don't know about Bebop. Got all the lights and warnings. The Blueshape V-mount has been improved tremendously since last year. It is quality stuff now so I'm not worried about that.
My collegues use it on their JVC's and Sony's and say it's just great. Has anybody tried this on Red yet?

Yeah, price?

Looks great! But do you lose the battery countdown info or does it pass through that info? It'd be great to see Abelcine carry these. Though I wonder about the usefulness once Epic ships and we go to the new battery style

I recently got the bebob adapter and find it perfect in every sense. Its locking mechanism is far better than red's, its very well made overall, the only letdown for me was that its almost three times the size of the red vplate(minus the back of course) but then again there's a battery and boards in there so its understandable.
What I dont like with blueshape(judging from the photo) is that its very bulky considering
it gets on top of the other vmount and the fact that a hasty AC can accidently release both the battery and this from red's mount.
nonetheless, its great that at least 2 products address the reboot-time issue in such a clever way.

Thanks for sharing Tony

Sorry for the delay, but I have to say that I'm playing with a Blueshape MVQuick for some time...
Nothing to say, It's perfect.

Yep, It's a little bulky, but you don't have to change the configuration of your RED.

There's place for the REDRAID in the original cradle, and if you need to strip down, you can just remove the unit and plug a brick directly.

Just my two cent.

It's about 360€ (500USD). You can drop an email (as i did) to sales@blueshape.net

Forgot to mention that the MvQuick last without battery for about 15 minutes.
Just in case you have drained all the power away... :-)
