  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nova Concept DSLR..

I like the idea that it comes with 2 aperture rings

No way that this could be a photoshop™ job? ;)

I doubt this is canons.. This seems like typical student work.

From a design point of view, its pretty silly. Not only are you introducing a torsional force grip (which reduces stability and activates most of the muscles in your hand/wrist/forearm trying to keep it steady), the handle bar leverage gives the centre of the camera (the sensor/lens) a parabolic axis of rotation...Which may translate to blurry pictures for such a lightweight camera...

The bottom right sketch in the image above has me interested though...

+Points for thinking outside the square though.

It would actually be pretty hard to beat the current design for a DSLR -

They just fit so nicely in one hand, and sort of hook on and stay there. The rubber and gripping is in all the right places.

This design, although cool, seems to demand having both your hands on it and thrust out from your body leading to blood-draining fatigue, plus I don't see proper respect for sweaty hands on the grips...

when canon will sell it like popcorn for a few hundred bucks you'll see the silly photoshop™ hairdryer job over the future scarlet sales btw..

Hi Martin-

Its an old preset lens, you preset the main aperture at your f-stop but it doesnt actually close down and then right before you take the photo you throw the other aperture ring over and it stops on your preseleted f-stop. It keeps the viewfinder bright. Glad someone figured out how to make the modern dslr camera bodies and lenses do this for you. ; )

That doesnt look at all easy to hold. Am i missing the point?

I doubt Canon are going to go quite so crazy in terms of redesigning the SLR.
Must be purely a concept.

Flip it upside down and you begin to have something, but it still is a bad concept ergonomically.
