The post house says all of the files for cf cards formatted as A017 and A018 are corrupt, which I delivered with the rest of the footage on a backup firewire external hd. (the two cards have been formatted and reused since the shoot, fwiw.)
In terms of A017, I can see that the A017_C004 and C005 clip aren't opening in RedAlert and not transcoding to prores422 for the director to view at home, but c001, 2 and 3 all seem to play fine and the proxies play no problem.
The post house tells me whenever their software encounters this corrupt footage Avid crashes and that they can't take the time to pick through the files to see what is corrupt and what isn't. I know nothing about Avid, but I was able to go in and hand pick those few corrupt clips and work around to get the director her timecode baked .movs for home viewing. Granted we shot a lot, but it was only a 2 day shoot and I know that only the cf cards numbered 17 and 18 had some funky corrupt files coming off the camera. So I've told them to skip those two for now.
Are these guys being lazy by trying to batch transcode everything into Avid?
A better question is... What can I do to get them the few useable clips from those two cf cards that I have backed up on my DIT backup disk?
