  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Canon 1D4 = ISO 6400 is for real

Send it down here and I will fix that faulty mount that doesn't take PL glass.:smash:

Pawel, will the 14mm MP cover this APS-H sensor? (27.9 x 18.6) :001_tt1:

Roberto, we will post the results around the time that Canon lifts the embargo... around release time in December, I think.

Matt, I will take a look at the video and let you know my thoughts. I have hours of it on my Nexto.

Hi Tom, This would require 33.5mm image circle. The MP14 is about 32mm, so if you are shooting 16x9 or wider format, it will be fine, but you may get some vignetting on 3x2 aspect ratio (full height).

Tom, I just checked out your website, and I absolutely love the footage! Is it possible to obtain similar results with a 7D seeing as how it can only record up to 12 minutes of hd footage at one time?

What equipment do you use for the dolly shots? Are you using your RED for most of those shots?

I guess my other question would be if it is possible to attain RAW timelapse footage with my UDMA cards and some means of taking periodic pictures (external device required).

Love it! I am definitely going to have to try some of this.

Timelapse can be done with the 5D2 and the 7D by using a Timer Remote Controller that Canon sells. It works great and the timelapse looks awesome on the 5D2.

Night vision without night-vision green noise ....

Night vision without night-vision green noise ....

Neil, I know what you mean about the low-light capabilities. I let out an audible gasp when I turned on the 1D4 using "exposure simulation" under the milky way... holy smokes... it looked like "night vision." Neil, I would love to come by RAWworks and see what you guys are up to. I'm leaving for NASA Ames tomorrow morning and will be returning around Dec 2nd with some potentially interesting RAW timelapse and Canon HD video.

So, are you back from Ames, dude? .... the whole world is looking forward to seeing your latest batch of time-lapse photos .... you might want to tweak your Vimeo settings before you post them .... really want to see your images in our DI theater .... we finalled all the VFX shots for 'Superman Returns' in our place ... you have no idea how obsessive Bryan was about star fields ... drove the VFX houses crazy ... with your shoots we could have done it in half the time.

Let me know when you want to bring your Canon footage over ... we have four DI's going on at the moment but really want to see your stuff as soon as possible.

Neil

Just finished a whirlwind 48-hour shoot with a pre-production Canon 1D4. We were shooting ISO 6400 RAW timelapse.

Below is an iPhone (not 1D4) behind-the-scenes pic of our crazy setup last night at Joshua Tree.

Dang! I just missed you guys.

I was going to be out in Joshua Tree all this last weekend, but I backed out at the last minute.

btw, I just checked out your timescapes site. VERY legit. I'd love to see a full film showing that.
