During playback, the darker areas seem to be pixelating (I think that's the right term) in the viewfinder. This only happens during playback, and only started happening this week.

Does the EVF need repair, or can I fix this myself?

Thanks!

Do you mean you're getting noise (dancing pixels) or is the image breaking up into squares (macroblocking) or are you getting something else, like purple dots?

You could just be seeing undebayered noise. Remember it's just a preview image you're looking at.

From what you've described I think this is normal. I sometimes see noise in the shadows in the EVF.

Is it cold? Solarisation sometimes happens before it's warmed up.

Also check your Dark Detail setting in the menu in case you have that set wrong...

It sounds more like macroblocking than anything. The dark areas cluster together into black blocks. Is that normal for the EVF?

@ Jeff: It isn't solarization, and I played with dark detail before and it didn't seem to help. I also reset the camera to factory defaults and it didn't go away.
