  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"Dust & Bones" Trailer for a Mt. Bike movie shot on RED!

The only thing that sucks is that this movie was only released on DVD...no blu ray

I have been watching these films since the first one arrived on scene almost a decade ago (New World Disorder 1). The more recent ones have been truly spectacular, especially the 8th installment. All the way through they have shot much of the movies on film (16mm, 35mm). This tenth version is the first to be shot almost exclusively on RED.

Given that, I actually preferred the look and feel that they achieved with Disorder 1-9. This version I don't think they quite managed to get the hang of using a digital format. Blown highlights were the main problem. In this area, RED hasn't quite been able to conquer the same way as film has in their past movies.

I don't think it has much to do with the format. I love the dynamic range of film, and the way the blown highlights blend more seamlessly with the exposed areas. I know that RED can achieve a very similar appearance, but I just don't think it quite worked for New World Disorder 10.

Having said that, I have full intention of producing MTB films in the future on RED, I just hope the new sensors are up to the dynamic range challenge.

Great stuff!
