I'm wondering why there is no thread on reduser.net dedicated to this film?

edit: please put *spoiler alert* in your post if you are about to spill any beans

It was good...just didn't think it was AMAZING...their doing a re-make now apparently too...quite sad really since its obviously not gonna be as good as the original...

Maybe people just haven't really seen it or been too bothered about it...

That was a deeply disturbing film for sure. It haunted me for a week or so after watching it, which I consider a good thing. A few adjectives to describe it: long, sad, lonely and weird.

Btw, I saw another weird disturbing piece of modern cinema today called "Tony Manero". Has anyone else seen it?

It's a shame that Twilight is the Vampire love story that gets the attention.

I saw LTROI back in its release and was blown away. In my experience it was something totally original in the way it was told.

There were two wicked visuals in this film -first was when the old helper's mangled face in the foreground (great makeup!) and you see his breath...until he dies. Awesome.

And the other was the frozen body in the BG while the chainsaw cuts through the ice.

An excellent film. I do not have high hopes for the remake.

The design, framing and lighting conception on this film was incredible, not to mention the brilliance of how many of the action scenes played out.
One of the best of the last decade.

And there's also a view of a pre-pubescent vampire v@gina... notably the weirdest detail ever to make it into any vampire film, period.

**SPOILER ALERT** **SPOILER ALERT**
You should read the wikipedia entry on the film as it explains that shot and how it is connected to the phrase 'I am not a girl'

Great movie. Everything - story, production values, acting, cinematography.

Must see film.

I am sure the remake is going to be even better. :puke:

This is one of my favorite films of all time. One of the best aspects of this film to me was the cinematography. Very much reminded me of someone who spent an awful lot of time taking pictures as almost every frame in this film is a very carefully composed picture. The story was also very interesting as it dealt with friendship on a level that children often associate with but had the danger and brutality that would come from befriending a vampire.

I hope the America version bombs as I'm sure it will be another turd to throw on the pile.

Me as well

So happy to see this thread. I also agree, once of the best films of the past decade. I was affected by it on many levels, and it has affected the way I see for the purposes of filming at times.

Its sad but not surprising to see a recycled version of yet another wonderful european movie on the way.

I've seen the DVD for this film at the store but after reading the responses in this thread, I'm definitely getting it the next time I see it. I'm intrigued by the cryptic comments here....

Thought it was an awesome film. Original and out of it's genre. I think it's really disrespectful for the remake to be made so soon afterwords. Let the right one in, could have reached more audience overseas easily if only it had been given a bit more marketing and theaters. The word on the street picked up like wild fire for this film, but it was decided that it should hit dvd as that was happening. So Hollywood decided to milk that opportunity and do a remake. Bet they will have marketing reference from (Låt den rätte komma in).
Hopefully this will do as mach as possible for the careers of the original filmmakers.

This is one of my favorite films of all time.

when she says she must be invited in ... wow ... now thats cinema!
(everyone making narrative, filming narrative and especially writing narrative should see this film)

Note for those of you buying the DVD or Blu-ray.... make sure you buy the version with subtitles marked as "Theatrical Version" as the initial release had butchered, third rate subtitles which destroyed almost all the subtlety and nuances of the theatrical version.

And have to say, awesome film and one of my new favourites. There's NO WAY the American remake is going to come close to the original....

HTH

Also one of my favorite scenes in this film. I also think the end pool scene is amazing. That's another reason I like this film so much. It only shows you what your really need to see. It doesn't show you everything. The movie does have quite a bit of VFX in it but they are done very subtle.
