This might be a long shot, but...

I'm looking for a Mamiya 28mm AF lens for 645 medium format. Will also consider manual focus models or 28mm and wider in Hasselblad V mount.

Not specifically collecting for that, but I used to shoot a lot of medium format stills and I've been salivating over the Epic 645 a lot since it was announced. So I recently dug my Mamiya 645 AFD out of the closet and blew the dust off. Started using it again and I've got a little project where I could use a really wide angle lens. I have a 35mm, but the 28 would be even better if I could get it for a decent price. They never seem to come up on eBay except for one or two from sellers in HongKong and almost never show up at KEH.com or with other sellers. I'd like to round one up, but I'm not desperate enough to spend nearly $5K for a new one right now. Saw one go on ebay few months back for about $900. I should've bought it, oh well...

I'm also hoping that the Epic 645 will have the option of a fully-functional Mamya 645 electronic mount.

Jeff,
I think pulling focus with these lenses on the Epic 645 and 617 will be a nightmare.

We'll see. I will still predominantly use these lenses for stills work, even with the Epic. Having AF functionality will also help. Hitting focus on these lenses is not as hard as a lot of people want to believe it is. DOF, or the shallowness of it, is still the same as 35mm or any other format. It's the perception of shallow DOF that changes with the larger image area and increased FOV. Many of these lenses don't open up much more than F3.5 anyway when wide open.

The Mamiya AFD lenses don't have any manual iris control and the focus rings are a bit sloppy with rather short throw distances (amount of rotation). They won't be that great for full on motion work. It will be interesting to see what options do come available for these larger format cameras and what RED intends to offer for them, especially for the 617.

I pull my own focus 99% of the time on RED anyway; rarely have a dedicated focus puller. I also don't shoot much narrative, hardlined stuff with a full crew.

Dam Jeff, I really wish I knew you were looking for one just a little sooner, I sold mine, and only have a 80mm "D" series for $595, great deal for sure, but is an 80, hope you are enjoying the 210 buddy, sorry again you missed out on my 28mm :(

Ah, didn't know you had a 28mm. Oh well. :-(

The 210 is excellent, Ketch! I've only taken a couple shots with it, but I really like it. After adding your 210mm, I have every Mamiya AFD prime except the 28mm. The 120mm macro (MF, but with electronic iris and focus confirmation) and the 210 are my favorite lenses of the bunch.

Yeah, sorry jeff, I should have asked you if you were looking for other 645 lenses as well, but didn't wanted to sound like I was on a mission to sale you my Manual 645 stock :-).

Now with the new LS 80mm coming out I'm selling the 80 "D" PS lens as well, other wise I would have kept all the "D" lenses for the Epic, but the hopes for RED bringing to life some Kick A%$#@ MF lenses are high, but if not I will be using Leica's new S2 lenses.

So any way, if you know any one that might be inbterested on my 80mm "D" let me know is a great deal @ $595 when new is $1,290 http://www.calumetphoto.com/item/PE70223/.

Actual dirty snap shot of the lens with Hood.
