After we check the clip playback in camera and it is a success I download the 16gb cards using my lexar. today randomly, the quicktime proxies having green flashes and or turn solid green after a couple seconds of playback. The sound is still there however. While I keep the clip up I bring it back to the begining and now I have no start frame...the whole clip is green now. When I re open that same clip I try again, this time instead of actualy playing, I click and drag the playhead to scrub. I can see all the data. After a couple seconds of scrubbing or playback it turns green again, the whole clip. I ejected the card without reformating and played it in camera.....played perfectly fine.

BTW occasionally in red cine when I play these clipS (yes plural...half a days shooting) it quits out. The same happens in quicktime every once in awhile. I reinstalled my red quicktime plug in as well...nothing.
Please help.

I am also doing drag and drop

I had exactly the same issue on a shoot yesterday. 16GB cards but running build 21. After download with R3D Data Manager I've got checksum errors no matter how many times I tried to download the card. In Clipfinder the QT played up to a certain point and turned green causes Clipfinder to crash. Redcine X crashed also when attempting to load the clips. Red Alert same thing. Clips played back in the camera.

The solution was reinstalling the firmware on to the camera and reshoot.
After the firmware was reinstalled the problem was gone.

Last time I had a problem with checksum errors and green flashes it ended up being a bad FireWire cable. Worked for half the day then just crapped out. I cut it in half and threw it away. New cable= no checksum errors and no problems with footage. Horray for checksums, r3ddatamanager! Think about it cable is weak link.

Yes, agree. Check your cables! It is hard to believe and doesn't get much attention here but a simple cable could be a major source of problems. I even have one beautiful orange, flexible LaCie FW800 cable that just doesn't do anything - cards just don't mount.

posts like this scares the living daylight off me.

not always possible to reshoot !

Check the cables and readers before you even think about re-shooting! If it plays back in camera, you are probably just fine.
