  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Rocket Software updates

Jeremy,

I also had that thought - to output a 2160x1080 file and then running it through compressor to "batch crop" the files to 1920x1080 - but, even though I can make a "render template" with a 2160x1080 size, ROCKETCINE-X won't render anything out at that rez (no file is generated - and since there is no progress bar, it's kind'a hard to figure out what's going on) - it will only generate a file at one of the preset resolutions.

Also, I'm wondering about the compressor part of the plan... does compressor maintain a true 10 bit path when cropping a 10 bit file and writing a new one?

Any thoughts.

Thanks

Jack

Jack,

Yes it appears that RocketCine-X won't output a custom size. I had not actually tested it until you said this. Never had any need to. I know this doesn't really help you now, but if you click on the batch tab while it's exporting there is a progress % read out. Not a bar but and indication of where it's at non the less.

Are you looking to create files for an editorial offline, to then conform with the RAW files later? Or are you planing on finishing with the files output from RocketCine-X?

We want to finish with the REDROCKET files.

Why?

Kind regards

Jack

Well, if you were to do an offline with the RedRocket files and then conform with the R3D's, there are easy options for cropping at that point. Depending on the software the workflows are different. What are you cutting with?

What's a REDROCKET file? Are you referring to the original R3D or a proxy in a different format?

Michael,

I apologize for using that wording. I was simply referring to the media files created by the RedRocket with RocketCine-X (DPX, Quicktime, etc.).

Ah - I thought I was missing something new. :)

Psf output from HD-SDI is still not functional. Please Red, when is this going to be working?

Searching for some definite answers on what Rocket Cine-X can currently do, what it cannot do, the system requirements, and availability? Anybody got a clue where to look?

We have some videos showing how RocketCine-X works, including a new one just posted now.....

this one really shows the benefit of what we are trying to do with Digital Cinema Lessons. The new RocketCine-X software has been out only a few days, and we now have a video tutorial you can already download and watch on how to get native AVID files out of this great new build of RocketCine-X. (GREAT work Deanan on this build - we LOVE it). Details:

"Within this lesson you will be shown how to export MXF files directly out of RocketCineX Build 1707. This will provide an instant import into Avid."

Here's the link:

Enjoy!

Hi Chris,

Getting file not found. Are those periods (full stops) supposed to be in the URL?

What should CPU usage look like when running with a REDRocket?

The app I am using has three options for bitdepth. 8, 10 and 16. Under 10, I see pretty balanced usage on all 8-cores. (around 5% in total) When I run under either 8 or 16, I see one core hit heavily and the others almost non-existent.

This is under Win7 64-bit. RR is in a PCIe 8x (16-bit connector) I also tried it in a true 16x slot. Its a dual quad core xeon (i7) with 24 GB of RAM. I am running the current FW and driver for REDRocket.
