Hi everyone. This is my first post but I've been lurking for a while. I've rented a Red One a few times in the past for music videos and have found the collection of knowledge on this forum to be invaluable. So thanks for that.
I've had an idea and wanted to see if you guys think it makes sense. Why not add 33% in size to the FF Epic/Scarlet sensor and make the sensor square? Then, when shooting stills, one can flip between portrait and landscape at the push of a button (no need for a bottom handle, much faster when on a tripod) or shoot full frame square images at 36MP.
A square senson on a VDSLR would also allow one to shoot video with the camera on it's side, which I think would reduce the jello on horizontal motion.
