Let's pretend I have a 4K projector, a Rocket card, and this breakout box and a fast computer...would I even need RedRay? Why / why not?

Portability.

Torrey from Silverado hooked my Macbook Pro up to the RED Rocket, it worked pretty much ok - It was via esata connection. And the redrocket was connected to the director's monitor as well as the Macbook Pro at the same time.

I dont have a 4k projector yet. But I did ask Jim about some choices. And now to get permission from my wife to put the projection in my living room (yes I have a large house). but I think a mobile 4k projection system with a breakout box is an ideal situation. Not many tribes have a film night but this is a good way to show our 4k work on our RED Shoots.

So is there no audio on this device ?

I don't know the answer exactly, but HDMI ports/cords do carry audio.

Yep, I suppose so but some for of analogue monitoring would be good.
