Can someone explain, what exactly is redrocket good for? I mean, playing out 4K realtime redmedia is great, but why do I need it, I still have to edit first, and I after I edit, I do not know if it is possible to render back to redcode, so if not what good is it for?

hope this is not the stupidest question on the forum :)

to edit youll need to convert your r3d files into something editable ie..proRes or dnxhd and thats where the rocket comes in and ramps up the transcode to just about realtime tranfer ...

hmm. I edit it with proxy, so will redrocket help anything?

Not yet.

Eventually various NLE's will get support for RED Rocket. Not that I have any insight as to when that may be.
