I feel like a batchler in his last night.

I´m cooking late night pasta and listening to old cd's.

No anxiety, different rictual - Philly cheese steak, dill pickel, Grolsch whilst reading the Keynote announcement.

I had a dream the other night that Jim sent me the Scarlet to test (probably by accident). It was a good dream...

yes it's true, but in 4 hours and 9 minuts it's the 29th on the east coast

Hurnal,
Do you mean WEST coast? I am on EST and in 2 hours and 2 minutes it will be the 29th.

exactly, 1 hour and 57 minutes, my bad
too much pasta

What?!?!? You can never have too much pasta!

Halloween can't come soon enough!!!!!! It feels like Christmas.

¨What?!?!? You can never have too much pasta!¨

as long as you keep the wine running i might ad

and acording to the new schedule (3pm PST) i'll have to buy more bottles for a full ride until the end of the day :)

Look, the enthusiasm is great, but its just an announcement of a POTENTIAL ship date. Don't read too much into it or you WILL be disappointed.

What they are trying to do is hard enough... WHEN they are trying to do it is insane really. And don't forget EPIC-X ships first now... then Scarlet's.

Pricing is pricing... and could change again.

Not trying to be a buzz kill, but its hard enough to keep up with valuable tech information on here without these DVXuser-esque threads piling up.

Now speculating about an upcoming Scarlet feature, or something is cool. But a post about waiting... Whats the point?

respectfully yours

Thread about nothing

Thread about nothing

Is it the virtual version of camping out? Hmm..................probably not.

thanks for your advice,
never been disappointed on reduser.
not so much about waiting, but as you said, more about celebrating, another important step in the development of this community. been here almost everyday for the past 3 years, not posting much precisely because there is a lot to learn before i feel i can contribute. but i sincerly hope I'm not disrupting when solely sharing the high moral such a moment awakes in me. I'm just happy for all of us, beyond schedules, deliveries, and final spechs, and feeling lucky about this times.
I remember going to dvxuser before 3 years ago to read about red. apart from that I now know a new adjective.
cheers:beer:

This is a really cool post in a response to another really cool post by Tim... thanks for really getting this whole thing guys..

I was on an alternate energy forum once waiting endlessly for vaporware announcements. Someone started a count to one million thread, each post incremented the count by one. Then someone started the count to infinity in prime numbers thread...

Tim the point is that ship dates will affect people's actual lives and projects.

There hasn't been any major news about ship dates in almost a YEAR, so the interest is very understandable me.

Another debate on Scarlet specs is not what we need. We've been doing that for two years. What we need now are dates, and hopefully large first batches of Epic X's.

naw, what we need is Epic's 1-27 to ship and then stop for 6 months :-)

Dang, you're right, it has been almost a year! how time flies.

Ship dates do affect lives, but with Red you cant plan your life around a ship date (they themselves repeatedly remind us of this). There's an axiom in tech that if you want to know for sure when something will NOT ship, put your money on the ship date....

Actually, at this current time ship dates matter a hell of a lot.

Every day there's a new guy toting round a 5D and trying to get work - my work - five minutes after asking, "what's a matte-box?", on an internet forum. I have nothing against the new folk making head-way in our business, in fact I encourage them and share my knowledge whenever I can, but I need new tools to stay that little bit in front and excite my clients and create new ones.

The announcement tomorrow will have a real and far-reaching impact on my business because decisions need to be made now and strategies agreed upon that will shape how I work for the next two or three years.

I think with that it mind it's fair enough for folks to get a little excited. I know I am:)

You're work? I'm sure there is some guy out there with a Genesis/Viper/F23 saying the same thing about you.

I've worked with two of those cameras and hundreds of times with film and pretty much everything else. Not sure I understand your point...

Edit: Ah, penny's dropped... I get your point. Generally I hire the big guns, like most everyone else. I don't think the Viper/F23 etc are often user owned (different kettle of fish) and when they are hired they are hired by professionals - not to say newbies aren't professional...
