I am a producer so forgive me if I sound ignorant.
We have been doing post in 2K. We want to color and perhaps finish in 4K. My colorist can't figure out how to conform the project file back to 4K for the purpose of coloring.
We are using the newest version of final cut that is supposed to be able to handle 4K.
HELP!

All depends on how you have done the offline. If you used Proxies, you should be able to just change the resolution within Color. If you used ProRes, you need to replace your clips before going into Color.

Check out Clipfinder. Free and made to do this exact thing.

Why finish in 4K? Do you have distribution in place? Film out? Just curious, its an expensive and time consuming process to finish in 4K and so few places to screen it at 4K.

thanks

I personally like to use 4K in color because it allows me to modify the raw red settings if I need.

Are you confusing 4k with RAW in color?

Or am I missing a point?

If you ask clipfinder to point to the F proxie then you will get a 4K reference in FCP. Then when you send that to Color you are scaling the 4K image to whatever frame size you are outputting to.
