So I've been hired to AC a red shoot. I've used the camera twice before, but never as 1st AC. Just wondering any tips/tricks you guys have for downloading footage, assembling the camera, etc.

Thanks,
Spencer Katz

Surely you're not focus puller and DIT? I would have thought there would be a separate guy in charge of backing up and checking footage. You will have enough to worry about as it is.

Good Point.
know ur role on the set .
download the manual and print it out if u r not familiar with the camera settings , format the cards on the camera only , make sure u use different REEL names for different cameras like camera A camera B for post work...
for footage downloading , get a good card reader , and have 3 HDD for backups always have extra usb, fw800 , power cables ...

Id invest in a copy of R3D data manager too. Makes me feel a lot better at the end of the day handing over the hard drive(s).

I would prefer to shoot on drives on a job like this so you can dump at lunch and don't have to run back and forth. Just a thought.
