Hi Guys,
I have a spare clip-on matte box that I think might fit the RED Primes quite well. Can someone with these lenses please let me know the exact Outside Diameter? Much appreciated!

Exactly like the Cooke S4 110mm. I use the same clip on for both.

Hi David,
Thank you kindly for the quick reply and good information; even though it is not what I wanted to hear. The Clip-On Matte Box I have is 95mm, and all my primes are Zeiss with 80mm fronts. It was thrown in with the purchase of some filters I picked up a while back, and now I'm trying to find a use for it.

Please let me know if anyone could use a two stage Clip-On 4x4 Matte Box with a 95mm compression ring front.

Thanks!

Web research seems to indicate that 95mm Outside Diameter would fit most Ultraprimes, (except 10mm and 12mm), as well as S 35 Illuminas, the new Super Speeds from LumaTech. The weight is 12 ounces without any filters, which is pretty light weight for a Matte Box, but it's still on the borderline of what I would want to clamp on. If anyone needs such a device, please check with me for a very competitive price and photos.

James,

You will have more luck marketing this particular clip on to people in the 2/3" video market. Have one myself for the Fuji 5mm prime and Canon 11x4.7 that I still use with the 900H. I extracted the following info from a circa 2005 Chrosziel document for you:

Take care...

Can anyone tell me if Its to much weight to use the mmb1 as a clip on?

We've done this for several clients with no complaints. I checked out one setup myself and it seems just fine to me.
