Many of our customers using Cinevate's Pegasus Linear tracking system have expressed an interest in using RED on the unit at lengths of six feet. For them, and anyone using heavy camera rigs (up to 200lbs) or just very long lenses (300 to 500mm) and need a super stable ride, we give you "Atlas". You'll see a series of clips, teasers and Cinevate's Video University episode over the next week or so. Atlas is a linear tracking system design to break down in seconds, and redeploy over a fine dining table, or leveled on a pile of rocks just as quick. The unit supports both 150mm or 100mm bowls so you tripod head just drops in.

Pricing for the 3ft version will be in the $1500 area, with 4, 5 and custom (longer) lengths of rails available.

Here's the first teaser:

And our creative efforts last week:

COOL! Looks like it has a lot of potential!...Dennis when will the Titan Swing away matte box be adapted for the RED? (iE Bigger filter stages (4x5.6), 19mm mounts etc...)

Thanks for your comment Maz. The Titan box already supports 19mm studio rails (direct fit for RED). With regard to the 3 larger stages, and enhanced wide angle front end, we're working on them with an intention to have them in December/January. As with just about everything we do...our 4 x 5.6 solution is something you'll be surprised with.

The Titan mattebox is about to be integrated with a full cage solution (the bottom bracket and top bracket are the same). This is to facilitate the crazy stuff we have coming which included seamless jib integration as well as overhead cable work.

Cheers,
Dennis.

Glad to see the support for the RED crowd. Is the unit ball-bearing based and if so, how noisy is it? Also, is the drag adjustable? Any options for Mitchell mounts?

Yes, bearing based, however we have a polymer (silent) option that can be swapped in/out. You see them actually in the frame grab posted. Drag can be adjusted via the brake..which alternately locks the unit in place. Rails are 3,4 and 5 feet.

On the Mitchell question..good question! We're working on a base for this system that will maintain current functionality, but allow 3 different options for folks with Mitchell heads on dollies etc. This base unit will be ported to the smaller/lighter Pegasus Heavy Lifter too.

Hi Dennis

Very nice product! There seems to be quite a big difference in price between the 100mm and 150mm bowls - is that just because of numbers you expect to sell?

Thanks
Eric

Alexander, yes, you'll see them available (apart from direct order from our website) in New York, Chicago and LA to start. More on that shortly.

Eric, on the price difference it's all about parts cost as the base unit takes either a 100mm bowl, or a 150mm option. The 150mm option ships with our 150mm ball/low profile handle installed too. Either of these choices results in different parts being assembled to the unit, which can be user swapped at any time as required. The legs on the shipping version are powder coated black to match everything else, unlike the photo we posted.

The first production unit left here today, purchased "on sight" by a fellow who flew up to from Toronto to do some work in Thunder Bay. I was pretty happy about this as he also flew up with a $7500 custom built over-keeper that he's replacing with Atlas. We started shipping the first units ordered today for those who were waiting :-) I'll have an update on the Mitchell base for the unit in 2 weeks or so.

Cheers,

Hi Dennis,

your website doesn't seem to offer many of the options you've mentioned here yet? Will there be a 6ft option available online, and can you purchase more than one length of rail? Will the polymer option be available online? Also I seem to remember you mentioning something about this unit being able to be deployed on table tops etc as well? Can you tell us how that works or what parts are required for that setup?

Matt, the new legs are done, shipping and the first rubber (removable feet) arrived today. All units are shipping with these parts and updated pics will be up this week. We've been working on the pesky feet for quite some time to arrive at the "correct" compound. They represent a three stage process which finishes with an extremely tough over-mold. On the polymer bearings, you just need to request them in your order notes for now until we get the order option loaded. Even if you don't use the unit, it's worth setting up in your living room as a conversation piece :-)

Because of weight and shipping, the lengths offered are 3, 4 and 5 ft :-)
