  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The double DVD of the 10 RED camera production of Journey "Live In Manila" opened its first week as the top selling music video on the Billboard Charts. Sales of this Journey DVD also represented the second best music video debut sales week of this entire year. The double DVD is sold exclusively at WalMart ($10).

Obviously standard DVD isn't the best presentation for a RED production shot in Quad HD, but I'm guessing that a BluRay version will be released very soon, and ultimately an HDTV program.

RED User members who worked on the production:
Me (a DP and stage front camera), Champe Barton (a DP), Blair Paulsen (stage front camera), Oli Laperal (Manila equipment & some crew). I used my RED #8, and my RED "London" was on the 40' jib. Blair used his RED #19 and also supplied Steve Tammi's RED #17. Champe supplied his RED, and as I remember, the other REDs were supplied in Manila by Oli Laperal's RSVP Films.

The Executive Producer (Dan Barnett - Wizard Entertainment) and Director (Eli Tishberg) were fantastic to work with, as was the rest of the crew, which came from L.A., Florida, New York, and various parts of Asia.

Went down to my local San Diego Wal-Mart and for reasons they did not understand they never got their stock of the Journey: Live in Manila DVD set. They were aware of it due to advance PR, but it never arrived at their loading dock. Guess I'll just wait for the Blu-Ray :-(

Bummer Blair...they should have had it in stock. On the release date, Oct 2 (which is my birthday by the way), I walked right into my local WalMart here on the Central Coast and they had a full rack of them on display. I snagged several. If you'd like, email me your address and I'll mail you off one of them.

Yes, I can't wait for the BluRay version - it should portray the Quad HD RED camera performance much better.

Thanks for mentioning Tammi's RED being used - I somehow left that out - I've now added that to my original post. We definitely had some historic REDs on that production - #8, #17, #19, and "London".
 
I might have to pick up a copy at lunch today!

Very cool...its standard definition, so the "look" of it won't be like you're used to viewing at RED, but the production values are very good. I think you'll like it...

I see WalMart doesn't ship internationally...is this DVD sales exclusivity permanent ?

I don't know if the DVD sales are exclusively WalMart on a permanent basis - I'll look into that.

I'm also curious if the BluRay sales will be through WalMart - I'll check on that too.
