  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EVF solarizing

EVF and "solarization"

EVF and "solarization"

If there was a simple fix, such as adjusting something in the menus, I probably would have mentioned that already :-)

Except for initial start up, or in applications in cold ambient temperatures, you should not expect a RED-EVF to exhibit solarization.

So if your's does, call RED tech support and give them your specific EVF details.

I'm on a shoot right now and we just experienced this after a half day of shooting. We are indoors at room temperature.

I unplugged the EVF and plugged it back in and we're back to normal. :coolgleamA:

This has been an ongoing issue with many EVF's as indicated in this thread. I initially thought it was only the cold weather that did it (as it was the first time I saw the problem) but I experience it on every Red job I do now. The answer is to unplug and re-plug the EVF. This cures it for a time, but it always re-occurs. I always assumed it was a software problem and eventually would be debugged in one of the builds. I guess not and I suppose I should contact support. The thing is it's not a production stopper so I've never regarded it as a serious issue...just an annoyance. Though it would be much better if it didn't happen at all.
