Applying a LUT Curve

guys a i have a question i wanted to know how do we apply a LUT curve for example PDLOG985 or a custom LUT, do i apply them in the video menu-> look menu and import in the camera, see according to my information and I think this piece of information is right but correct me if i'm wrong that its only in the video as a guide it will not affect the raw data? and could somebody confirm if i'm right or not about the applying a lut curve in the camera thank you....

please note i'm a newbie with the camera so bare with me

Yes, you're correct. Applying a LUT will not affect the RAW data. You can of course, choose to bake those parameters into your image when you import it into your NLE.

In post, you have the option to alter the RAW metadata at several stages depending on your workflow or you can embed the metadata from the RAW file into new transcoded files at the very start of editing. If you are familiar with RAW stills think of the difference between working with a RAW file as opposed to a jpeg.
