My Dell 2408's don't work!!! I am really bummed because it's great for the money. Is there a list of functioning monitors over HDMI or can some of you guys recommend a fair quality low cost (18"-30") LCD for location/studio use??? Please save me the trip to BB with my Red to test monitors.

Thanks in advance,
Prio

You can buy any HDSDI (take 720p preview out from R1) to HDMI converter (AJA, BM, etc,...) an it always works.

The most converters would also scale that 720p signal to 1080p or higher 2K,...

Did you try another HDMI cable? Not all cables will work.

I'm very fond of my Gateway fhx2300 ( http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668278.php )

dirt cheap.... looks good..... vesa mounts to a c-stand... fits in a pelican 1600 case.

I take it on shoots with my RED and the clients love it.

Bought it on a whim at best buy....

They should work, ours do. Try re-checking connections and other HDMI cable.

Hello Sanjin,

Thanks for the proper solution but the operative word here is CHEAP!!! Red's HDMI output to a lite, Vesa mount to c-stand, good picture $200 monitor.

Cheers,
Prio

Dell S2408W??? Camera > monitior via HDMI??? I have tried 2 HDMI cables with no success and 1 DVI w/ a dvi>hdmi converter on one end... nothing.

Sorry, I thought you meant 2408WFP.

What Build are you running?
Build 20 has fixed lots of compatibility problems...just make sure if you're using an HDMI to DVI cable that you set the camera to DVI in the system menu!

Hope that helps,

How about a Samsung XL2370

How about a Samsung XL2370

Has anyone tried a Samsung XL2370??? If it works I am thinking of building one into the lid of a Pelican 1650. For my application it actually makes more sense then the Vesa C-stand.

Build 20.1.3

Carlos,

Is it a 2408W or 2408WFP? I have used my 2408WFP for hours on end when I was setting back-focus on the Birger. Lovely large picture. In fact as soon as I can afford one, I am going to grab a AJA HD-SDI converter and migrate one of my 2408's into RED duty. Then I may buy one (or 2) of the new Dell 24" models.

But as was mentioned, I had to set the menu/DVI option for it to work.

YMMV

Carlos,

I think you should look into this deeper as I'm convinced the DELL monitor will work. If you're having trouble with HDMI then get a $5 HDMI/DVI converter and try that. If you are already connecting via DVI, check the RED menu settings.

Its a S2408W sold at bestbuy & Dell- for about $249 & $219 at dell. I bought a bunch for Mac Minis and second heads on Imacs. For the most part they are great!!!! but I am really bummed I cannot use them via HDMI on the RED. I am now obsessed with getting a cheap light weight monitor for my location work. Note- I have been using an Old School Sharp Aquos 26" (Excellent) but weighs 30+lbs.

My new considerations-

01. 2408WFP- Can someone confirm that the 2408WFP works w/ RED reliably via HDMI???

02. Samsung XL2370

03. Samsung P2570

I am going to buy a new cable and some adapters today... I am also hunting down these new Samsungs to try. Is anybody using Samsungs successfully???

Maybe we could ask Jeff to start an official "Confirmed Monitors List"???
