Is there any reason why one can't hot swap batteries with RED using the DTAP to keep the camera powered while the battery swap happens ?

I know it's potentially lethal to short out lithium batteries to battery and human alike, but is there anything else that can go wrong doing this ?

Hi, John

I believe Mitch Gross once offered the "suicide cable" to make this happen.

Hi Mark. Long time !

I was hoping maybe a diode inline would prevent those kind of accidents....?

I don't want to have to get an extra *thing* that I have to carry on-board.

We lost a couple batteries on Hawke this way, John. Best to get a T plate if you really, really need hot swap. Or wire a diode inside the battery plate.

call peter at birns and sawyer in hollywood, tell him i sent you...works everytime like a charm, just make sure you dont plug it in backwards....or you will have to wait a few minutes for the camera to reset.

good luck

Is it available for sale yet? I wrote them a long time ago but never got an answer from them...

Yes -- I received one a couple weeks ago, and it's been working like a charm.

Anyone will make you a cable, its just two p-tap connections. I've thought of adding a switch but it really doesn't need it. But A diode would be nice, I got a Switronix hot swap plate and modified the cable to go straight to 6-pin LEMO instead of sitting within another Battery Plate. So I really dont use the cable anymore.

How have you been John?

On request from OffHollywood we made a bunch of Suicide Cables (yeah, that's my name for it) and I think we have a few spares left in Sales inventory in our NY office. You can contact me or one of our Sales Agents. We didn;'t really publicize the product particularly, so if the Sales Rep. isn't familiar with it just same it's called something like AB-Ptap-Ptap. Or just PM me with your contact info.
