It was a tough shoot. Shooting in the blistering humid heat out in the jungles and back alleys of Vietnam. At the same time, it was an amazing experience. Camera operating for this film was a constant adrenaline rush for me. When everything was on the line to get the shot in one take, I had to have my concentration amped up to 110%.

Red Camera Rental, Camera Operating, Steadicam and DIT services provided by Tonaci Digital.

I hope you enjoy the trailer!

A look was applied via red alert and redcine but this film has not gone through scratch color grading yet.

Looks like a lot of fun cinematic fun, great looking action and footage AND it opens on my birthday! (In Vietnam though I'm sure...)

Can't wait - keep us posted.

Thanks for all the kind words. I just got word that some big name US Distributors are interested in picking up the North American distribution rights for this film. I'll post once things happen.

Looks good Tony! Glad to see you're out there having fun with RED. Looks like you have a lot of work going on there. Keep it up...

As you know, I spent a whole year in the Viet Nam (1970). I went back to Viet Nam for three weeks in 1993 to work on a production at China Beach, by Da Nang. It wasn't much fun in '70 (war) - but a great experience in '93!

Thanks for keeping us posted on your Viet Nam projects...

Yeah.. shooting out Vietnam has been just crazy. The cinema industry out here is just starting to undergo a major transition and its amazing to be a part of it. We couldn't shoot a gangster picture like this a few years ago.
I can't wait until the day Vietnam can join the ranks of Hong Kong in pumping out really high quality stuff. Prior to 2008-2009 the number of feature films pumped out per year used to be between 1-2 films per year (3 would be considered a busy year). Just last year in 2008, 6 films were shot. 5 out of 6 films on RED (one was on 35mm but it was only because the Director/DP of that team weren't introduced to RED in time). 2009 looks to be a record setting year as well.

Anyways, I can't imagine what Vietnam was like in the 70s or 90s. It's definitely a culture shock.

Due to the smaller budgets required to make an ROI on films here in Vietnam, RED has been crucial to the film industry out here.

Anyways, hope you and your wife are doing well! I'll call you when I'm back in the states. =)

That looks great, whats it like shooting a movie over there?

Congrats Tonaci. Looks like you are breaking into the Vietnamese market. Lim

I gotta laugh

I gotta laugh

at myself that is...

Clicked on this thinking it was going to be a docu on the
band Clash.

Regardless, this looks really good.

Hope to see it in the theatre here.

I loved the trailer. How did you embed your youtube clip showing the HD version automatically? Everytime I embed something it defaults to a crappy SD version and the user has to click HD down at the bottom.

Another frame grab from the film:

Dean- I will upload a behind the scenes clip that gives you an idea of what its like out here.
Matthew- glad you dig the cast.
Justin- thanks man!
Mark- yeah Red has literally transformed my life..sounds cheesy but so true. loved your director's reel by the way!
Tai Wah - been truly lucky to be a part of the scene here.
Michael - it seems like it will be picked up by a major US distributor..so we'll see.
Dcsimpson - back then, youtube required a sorta hack in the code to embed HD..but now! it has an embed option right on the front page of the video. Near the "embed" button there is a customize button. Click on that and select "play in HD." copy the embed code and plug it into your website.. presto. embedded HD.
