17" 3.06 Macbook pro cut 1080 prores?

I need some quick advice. Will a 17" 3.06 Macbook Pro cut 1080 prores easily? I'm sure it will cut it, but will it do it with ease? Large projects? Lots of layers?

I've cut 1080 ProRes on my 15" Macbook Pro with 4GB Ram, and its been fine. My only question would be multiple layer handling, but you can always turn the preview settings down.

One ProRes HQ layer is about 27 MB/s for one stream.
Get a dedicated firewire drive for one stream.

A dissolve will be 54MB/s in realtime without rendering.
Then you will need external sata storage through the pciexpress on your MBP.
Picture in picture will be around 54MB/s too.
