OK here's the deal; we're starting a show that we need to do straight renders to proresHQ as they don't want to spend the time re-conforming to the R3ds and coloring via color. Just need to know before we plunk down 5k for the card that it will expedite renders via full debayer; and that we can do real time full quality outputs from the card thru rocket cine or something like that to dvd recorder w/ time-code burn-in for super fast dailies as well.

Any thoughts?

Thom,

Yes, the card will drastically expedite full debayer renders to ProResHQ files. It does a wonderful job creating these files far quicker then anything else. You can do real-time full quality playback, but at the moment there is no time-code image burn-in. However that function is supposed to be coming in the next RocketCine build, which I believe Deanan and the gang are currently trying to get wrapped up and out the door. But if that's today or a month from now, only they know.

seems like a great product to have; especially when all the features of redcine are supported over sdi; also is timecode burnin planned for the next realease; any ETA on when that might be?

We are not sure about next update. Last post from Deanan said they were waiting on a LIBRARY from a 3rd party vendor as well as tackling a particularly persistent bug, but not sure which one.

if you search Deanan's recent posts. should find it easily. just click o his name and drop down menu takes you to recent posts.

Thom,

Redrocket will change your life. We shoot live multicam talkback-style shows, typically 2 hours long and up to 4 per week. We transcode the r3ds straight to prores and don't look back. Without red rocket we were struggling. Now, life is beautiful. If you've got the $ I can't recommend rocket enough.

We got ours today (1st day of shooting; just in the nick of time) and are having some issues with multitasking to an onboard sata card (we're trying to run rocket renders & shotput r3d magazines at the same time; although they're going to different drives on the same sata card; it still wants to kick off the render drive if shotput is already running)

So now we're rendering across the network & i've never seen dailies look this good, this fast!

Any idea what's causing rocketcine to crash the drives or vice versa depending on what's accessing the drive first? I'm going to post this in rocketcine forums as well!
