  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Paid, but not delivered

Haha, I guess you can read it that way. When I think "concentrating", I think of a conscious effort to do a certain task. That is not the case here (ie, only focusing on Imperial) - we are certainly ramping up production on the Metric to be in line with the higher then expected Metric orders.

RED is certainly worldwide, you should see the addresses coming out of our shipping department on a daily basis. Luis, I will assume your question was rhetorical since you have RED product and don't live in the US....

Regardless, my earlier post was merely me explaining why to clear up any confusion. I hope that was not lost...

Hi Tony,

Im in a similar situation. Hopefully now that your lenses are shipping, my drives and my primes will ship soon also.

Got my primes yesterday. Holy shit they're nice! Too bad I'm at IBC to check out the EPIC and other stuff. Will post something soon. Meanwhile - here they are:

I ordered my set of RPPs about two hours after they opened up the ordering at NAB over two years ago, and I got mine TODAY! \o/

believe me they were worth every day of the two years of waiting!

Brent, just a little rhetorical provocation :)

Got a long feature on the pipeline, love to shoot with RPP.
Praying to the metric god of lenses.
AWAKE UP OH MIGHTY ONE!!!!

Hi guys, when you purchase this lens...do you take Epic into consideration ? Does it work with Epic 5K and above ?

I'm pretty sure the RED primes are ready for 5K and Epic.

Hi Brian and Brent,

I know you guys are doing the best you can getting the metric prime sets ready. It's just that I paid the whole amount in August and this is starting to become a problem for me, since it's a big chunk of money that has to be paid back on a monthly basis. I was told in early/mid September that I was in the next batch and that my set was entering QC next week. Then another mail in the beginning of October, again that I was in the next batch, but that there were unexpected delays. If I understood this correctly, my set is scheduled to be delivered by October/November. If that means end of November before they leave California - and consequently mid December before they pass customs here in Stockholm - that is a really long time for me to be $20,000 short - since the lenses need to be rented out to pay for themselves...

:hat:

I totally understand that things like these happen, but, like Tony Lorentzen said:

I know this lens set is great value for money, but I'm not a bank and if I was then I'd want something in return for lending out money. In these poor economic times I can't afford to have my money held up like this. I'd like my lenses to be out there and make money.

...to be honest it doesn't seem fair to be told that the set was ready for delivery and asked to pay in full, and then, when the money was transferred to Red, have to wait this long without neither delivery nor getting correct estimates for delivery.

It would be great if you can post status updates in this thread to let us know what is happening!

Best,
Olle Agelii

Fair enough, Ollie. Apologies for the delay, of course. I can say that our next batch of RPP Metric should ship next week. If you or anyone else has questions, please email me and Brian Bryne (brent - and brian b - at - red - dot - com).

We shipped a batch yesterday and are shipping some more today, in fact :) If you want an update on where you stand, shoot Brian an email at brianb - at - red - dot - com.

Brent, when the prime sets were first announced, they were to include the electronics for recording lens positioning as the Cooke lenses do. This attribute was removed in the final configuration to keep the price in line with the original price quoted two years ago. Is there going to be a Red Prime Lens 2nd edition addressing some of the issues people have had with Red primes? I've let you hold onto my money for two sets now going on nearly three years or so. I don't mind waiting a little longer. If not, I will need to pull my money out of the Red Bank.

Tim, not that I am aware of.

Tunji, I believe your set is shipping today so I am not sure what you are asking about with that rather open question.

I do not recall i/data ever being a part of the RED primes protocol.

so am I, and I remember JJ being quite upset to a reduser for yelling about the same thing...
By the way my metrics RPP should arrive tomorrow... without the backordered RED ata case unfortunatly...

has anyone received his set ?
Yes.
I received my set like three months ago.
Very nice set very nice image producing (of course you don't want to hear my opinion about what does nice means nowadays).
I did receive the set (except for the 18 mm) and I am quite happy with it.
By the way Berenger, the PL mount caps are on their way to you.

Is there something wrong with the innerspace ata case? It's more compact and runs $150 less. After all, innerspace makes the red case.
