Hello all. Longtime reader, first time poster.

I've been circling around buying a Red camera for while now, and with the Epic-X upgrade offer and looming shipping date it seems that now is a good time.

I am planning to initially use the camera for a lot of work in the fabled DSMC arena - and the more handheld style of set-up, coupled with high frame rates is very attractive.

My question is, what is likely to be needed on top of the Brain/CF Module/Battery Module and I/O module that comes with the Epic-X package - and how much is it likely to cost? I will be using Nikon glass.

I assume I will need a battery/charger combo, plus some CF cards - but will the existing versions of these be compatible with the Epic/Scarlet cameras? If not, is it likely that all the necessary accessories will be shipping at the time of the Epic X?

I know a lot of these questions are still up in the air, with at least some of them (hopefully) being addressed this month, but I'm just trying to get an idea of budget to get me up and running....

Thanks,
Richard

epic x is $28,000
I believe this particular camera already comes with the modules (but you must have a red one camera currently) in order to get that deal.

I know that I need to have a Red One to get the Epic-X package, but my question is about what else I will need to get up and running beyond the modules that come with Epic-X.

Thanks,
Richard

can we use regular bricks? id hate to have to reinvest in batterys and charger just for the new cameras.. in fact.. i want to just trade in my body, and have all my aks work with epic.. My accessories cost more than the body

So far, we're looking at:

Epic-X kit (with Brain/CF Module/Battery Module and I/O module) - $28,000
LCD - $1700+
CF Cards - $495 each
Nikon Mount - $500 (the existing mount will work with Epic/Scarlet I assume?)
Red powerpack (charger and 2 batteries) - $1450
Riser - I'm guessing $600ish

Anything else? We're looking at about $33,000 so far.

Many thanks,
Richard

I am looking at purchasing another viewfinder for my second Red1, but, I eventually want to upgrade to EpicX. Are the viewfinders going to be compatable with the EpicX?
Batteries?
Pro LCD?
LCD?
Batteries?
Mags?
Anyone know for sure?

You still haven't accounted for what you said you know in an earlier post - that unless you are trading in a RED you will have to pay for CF module, I/O module and battery module.

the redone nikon mount will not fit on epic/scarlet. Totally different mount system will come with the new cameras...

From what I see.. it will be similar to the IMS mount. quick and easy mount changes (like taking off and putting on a lens)

Well.... the prices seem to have been removed from the Epic page, in expectation of October's announcement re-boot, so I guess this little spreadsheet is now void.

I'm still interested in knowing how it will be possible to record 350 fps if anybody has an idea.

Not as easy as the ims mount, I doubt. If I remember right, Jim mentioned, you will need to loose some screws to change mount and fix them again. But anyway, a lot more easy then to change mount on red one
