  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Control...

No, but the camera body also has RS422

You know I've been waiting (and griping) for R1 external control for 2 years. This time around, as far as designing my stuff, I can't count on anything that isn't available right away.

... It can be technically a lot less complex coz the control of the camera can be wireless and nothing inside the box needs to interface with knobs on the outside.

With that said, really the REDONE doesn't need much control unless you are doing frame rate and shutter changes. RAW recording eliminates the need for a fair amount of the control that was necessary with previous video cameras.

PS somehow I edit/messed up the previous post but it basically just said RF wireless doesn't travel underwater except extremely short distances, (like inches if that, for these power ranges) but redmote still really simplifies camera control. And asked if there was a wired capability.

How about some speculation about the range of control that is possible with REDhandle alone?

Will this offer the same amount of camera control as is available now on the R1? From the images it is hard to judge.

To Red Team,

Amazing job so far guys. The camera is developing nicely. Beyond expectations. A dream coming alive.

I know that we can drive more then one camera from a single REDMote, but can we drive one camera from, say, two separate REDMotes? For example, the AC wants one, but he is busy taking marks and the DIT needs to quickly adjust an advanced configuration option without bothering the AC, perhaps even from his grading station.

Everything you guys design is simply so damn COOL looking! It's a camera, and one nice looking 21rst century gadget as well.

Red Gunner

Red Gunner

Sorry if this has been said, but don't you think that RedGunner is just a kind of mount/shoulder mount to make the more basic setup of a DSMC system more "shooting friendly"? Even if the basic setup is quite lightweight it could be really heavy duty in your wrists if you have a long handheld shot...
Odf course it looks like it have some more things to it, like CF slots or memory expansions to make the DSMC system more self sufficient. I can't stop thinking those look like fiber-optic cables to me, just to keep the data streaming to the memory expansions in the Gunner so you don't get limited bandwith (and framerates and formats, etc.)

Just an idea.

Cheers!

Jibs? Where we're going, we don't need...jibs:

Is anyone else seeing a Redmote in there? Haha. Link:

Well, I definatly see a market for a wireless video module...
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they already had something in the works...

Following the tangent here, I think we should petition the Draganfly guys to make us a RED-capable aerial imaging platform:

I'm sure we could figure out a way to get a Scarlet on that sucker :biggrin5:

Charles...how would you prefer to change modules? Velcro?

:aureola:
Maybe it could be something like this:
You join the modules in a 90 degree angle, you push them together and turn the one you are attaching 90 degrees. And voilá, the system magically clicks to itself. To release you push the release button and twist and turn to the opposite side 90 degrees. The pins could be placed like a spiral and a center axis could make it modular.
Just a crazy thought.
Screws on aluminum tend to distort the material.:P
