Sorry, but I have a very stupid little question:

The RED ONE doesn't really have physical shutter before the sensor, does it?

The "rolling shutter" effect is because it is read progressivl (subsequently), line by line, from the top to the bottom, right?

Are their any digital cameras with a physical shutter? Even a non-rolling shutter (whatever that is called)?

Thanks for explaining!

Arriflex D-21...

D-21 has a physical shutter. Other that, any CCD camera is a "non-rolling shutter" camera. Genesis, F35, F23, F900, Varicam, HVX200, DVX100, etc...

The first with physical shutter that was available since 2002 was Viper... not all CCD cameras then... all except Viper...

So digital cinema cameras with physical shutter are just Viper and D21...

Yesterday I was shooting with both Viper and Varicam a group of models jumping up and down in a trampoline... the Viper compared to Varicam is night and day in terms of stuttering image...! I suppose the effect of stuttering would be the same with all other cameras that using "Global Shutter"...
