In case you didn't know...

If you are monitoring in RAW, the histogram and False Color are RAW.
If you are monitoring in RGB space (REC 709 or REDspace) the histograms and False Color are in the selected RGB space.

You can set up a user button to switch back and forth between RAW and RGB space.

I have become a real fan of False Color, but I want to know what it is doing in RAW even though I monitor in RGB. This is a handy way to do that.

I would love to be able to toggle between false color and focus assist with one button. Both are very important to great images... I wish I had both without having to go into the menus.

Why don't you force false color to be based on RAW exposure AND ONLY on that?

I agree completely. It's frustrating to have to switch to RAW view just to see my zebra stripes disappear. I would love it if all the monitoring options can be set to reflect RAW mode, and I can use Redspace/REC 709 as just a pretty on set reference.

When monitoring in Raw, when you toggle to a color space view is there an indicator as to which one you are looking at?

Yes! Its such a simple and important feature. People have been requesting it for a long time.

Seems simple... but.

The way the DSP is set up, the histogram and false color follow the RAW, RGB selection and are dependent. We have been trying to figure out a workaround to this.

We got a lot of things right with our 1st try at building a camera... but not everything. Lots of things will be different with Scarlet and EPIC.

I'm excited for the new cooling system. Huge improvement to isolate the different components of the camera into modules from a heat perspective.

Will there be easy access to the fans for cleaning?

Having a monitor and a histogram/false color/whatever else that don't match?

Uh, okay, I'm all for options.

But Jim, if he gets this option, I hope I get the option to lock all the displays together so I can't accidentally change the color space of the monitor without remembering changing the color space of the histogram. I want mine to match.

Is it just me or since Jim started talking about the eminent release schedule announcement a bunch of people that haven't a clue about Red started posting here? (with attitudes, and acting as if they know all/best)

Yes, Jim said on the Control thread that it is as easy as removing four screws to replace or clean the fan, something like that.

Found it, here you go: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showpost.php?p=483013&postcount=51

Yes. I feel the same way. I remember asking this w while back and someone gave me a long explanation about why you would want to see the colorspace in which you are intending to do post. I still don't get it though. Wouldn't you want to monitor what you are recording?

False Color is our new light meter Jim in Red One and SI2K.

We expect this feature in Arri D21 and Phantom which is not there.
