  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Control...

Awesome, thank you for the info and link Jason.

Will there be a Canon mount? Or can Canon's be used on a Nikon mount with an adapter? I think the initial idea was to have both Nikon and Canon.

Jarred posted the following in the Birger thread:
Epic will have support (electronic) for both Nikon and Canon (and others)...

Jarred posted the following in the Birger thread:

Yea baby!!! That is huge!! I can't wait to hear more! If we get Birger like control.... MAN! That would be so sweet.

I hope we find out about the ETA and cost of that piece this October.

You know I hate all the hype and Red fan-boys and Scarlet coming up in every thread in every forum in existence...but this stuff is soooooo awesome looking. I just wish I could afford it.

Maybe you should start a private forum?

Not that I personally think the RED Gunner involves a projector, I must say that I have encountered a rumour like this before...

On June 27, 2009, Nikonrumors.com posted a rumour of a Nikon compact camera with built-in projector. Link here.

Many thought it was impossible, or a hoax or joke... and then it was officially announced to be real on August 4, 2009. Link here. All the specs they listed in the rumour turned out to be exactly right.

We can't dismiss anything as being too far out there... especially considering we are talking about RED!

Ok. This is a question thinking about practical situations.

For me (when worked as AC, 2nd. AC,...), the Top Handle on R1 is a handy and wise option, it gives you the sensation of "holding tight" the whole camera.

What would be the equivalent on the Epic?

They are putting pico projectors in cell phones now.

I envy the Epic People's Front (SPLITTER!) :) I wish there was more news on scarlet right now...

I must admit that I am laughing myself at the 4k mention, even if I am not an expert, was typing fast, and speaking in a public forum as opposed to writing a freakin' white paper or an article for the New York Times!
Public forums are far more equivalent to a colloquial conversation. But even to me it now seems quite obvious that the idea of a color critical 2k projector, in such a size, ATM... yea, that's too far. That is not gonna happen... NOW. So we can laugh together at that if you'd like. We might as well, cause it won't be laughable for long.

However, I still fail to find any issue with having said it in "this thread". I am only now beginning to find an issue with my collective posts... derailing the thread for a few pages IS an issue. Even if there is very little factual info to talk about. But dreaming is NOT an issue. Especially not in Jim's threads for heaven's sake!

OK, I'll stfu now. Anyone want a beer? I'm buying.

Probably the top handle off a RED One. From everything we have been told, it should fit.

Well actually, any sensor that is big enough to capture 4k should, in theory, be able to project it as well. It's just photosites. The difference between a projector (Lens, imager, light source) and a camera (Lens, imager, storage) is the bit to add size, the light source, or more importantly, the ability to a/soften and b/cool that light source. I don't think that's what the gunner is but I don't see the idea of a compact 4k projector as totally out of the question and, as you point out, this company has a habit of making the absurd real in amazingly quick time. Go ahead, chuck it against the wall and see if it sticks!

It looks like it could be a little tricky connecting and disconnecting BNC connectors in that small space. Any chance it could be slightly larger so you can get your fingers in?

First thing I though of too...the outboard bnc's are going to be slightly difficult to connect.

Of course this is just a rendering, so things might change.

Outstanding Jim, well done!
