"Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card."

This is the message I get when I try to render in FCP6. Footage is ProRes422, compressor type is PR422, MacPro 8 core 8gbram.

Anyone have any idea?

THANKS :)

A quick search of the web turns up the following suggestions:

1. May be caused by non-standard sequence sizes.
2. May be cured by changing render settings to 8-bit in sequence settings.
3. May be caused by having large stills in the timeline.

Hope one of those helps you!

thank you! :D

I probably am working in a wonky res. (854x480) didn't know that it might matter though.

Changed render settings to 8 bit... which kinda sucks, but at least it's working. Why would it do that?

Had same error in FCE4

Had same error in FCE4

I don't know what caused the problem, but after much Googling and scrambling, what solved the problem for me was buying and installing DivX for Mac. (I still don't know why this worked, or if it was the only solution, but once I got the error message to go away, I went back to work :)

I wrote it up here:

Hope this helps,
