The large rental houses globally are definately going to support these Arri cameras if the image quality and colour reproduction is good they have huge investments in Arri accessories, lenses etc. The customers are also used to working with them on-set you can mock the accents but one thing you should never do is under estimate the respect Arri have earned over the years.
As I have posted elsewhere it will take years for the theatres to change completely to digital projection and those that are already on 2K projectors are hardly likely to trade them in anytime soon they are more interested in 3D at the moment. TV isnt going 4K anytime soon so why post 4K when 2K is good enough?
If Arri come up with a simple workflow that will also be an app. killer go ask the majority of cameramen what they hate the most about digital formats, non conformity (redcode, arricode, P2, Long Gop etc etc)

honestly.. im sure there are ARRI fanboys who will shell out the cash for one of these..
but really, RED will continue to dominate in sales, and price.. and I have no idea why someone would get one of these arri digital cinema cameras at this point

I own a Arri SRII and shot many miles of film on Arri 35III, 35BLII - BL4, 435, 535, 235, LT, etc... And in all these years we only once killed a 435 by overcranking it to 150 pfs. Apart form this incident I never had one single issue with any Arri model. Besides many know issues, which Arris usually don't have, my RedOne died in the last 1 1/2 years two times and is currently at Red Europe for repair.

I know that the RedOne is a beta camera, I know that this was/is part of the deal, I know that for 17.500 USD I would never get anywhere else such a picture quality. But you can be sure that a digital Arri IS the de facto measure any camera manufacturer has to deal with. I have big hopes on Epic in this regard.

Also wonder in which format they record? If you have to attach some huge expensive magazine or you can record to some small onboard flash device like Red?

We believe that a 4K finish is the future. Period. Scan anamorphic film, shoot 5K Bayer, shoot 4K Bayer and uprez the 3.2K... take your pick. But it is NOT 2K or 1080P. That's our story, we're sticking to it.

On a technical note, I am particularly interested in the claim that it will have the widest dynamic range of any existing digital camera system. Did I read in their literature that they are looking at 15 stops?
