If anyone can come visit IBC you should if your working with Premiere and REDCODE. We will be showing a sneak peak at a Tech Demo after each show we have at the Adobe Theater.(demo at the Nvidia booth) This demo will light up your editing world. We are going to show the direction things are progressing at Adobe for working with all formats. I am not going to say what it is but lets just say this...for all the folks getting older and older waiting for the machine while editing...think again...your time has come.

Prepare to rejoice.

It's an alpha or Just-off-the-programmers-screen-before-testing-has-even-began..but it's the sign of the future. now.

You have been warned.

:)

I guess Jim's announcement style has rubbed off on you somewhat :-) But yes indeed, once the show is over, please do post a summary of what this upcoming goodness is all about.

Can't wait to see it..

yes indeed.....show starts early tomorrow...I'll keep you posted..

hmm, a cuda implementation of the RED codec? like, redrocket in software, running on the GPU...

Hi Obin
Sounds good, but if CS4 can´t come out with a workable EDL from RAWfiles it´s pretty senseless in a professional enviroment. Please talk to the adobe people or give them a project with over 1000 cuts in them and they should try for theirself... http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=34177

thanks
alex

I wish I could have been there.

The future looks like REALTIME color correct, curves, transitions, keying, noise, blur etc...approx 20+ effects in TOTAL realtime with a 4800Nvidia GPU card. OUTSTANDING performance...I have been demoing it all day and have thrown 35effects on an R3D clip without any drop frames.

This IS the future. I am glad to see it happening.

I have been showing 4 layers of 4k r3d files in 1/2 res on a timeline with 5-8 effects on each clip including blur and resizing and it just can't kill it. This is the BEST thing since the NLE in my opinion. Pretty great stuff.

Does this mean that After Effects is now realtime with other files too ?

Any time frame for when it will be out ?

I wish I could get excited about this, but compared to AE and Photoshop, Premiere is a turd. Its clunky, slow and buggy, and the new media encoder they force you to use with CS4 sucks. Not to rain on anyone's parade though- if you like using Premiere, more power to you. But I think I've had enough.

Wow, Luke, my experience has been the exact opposite...sorry yours was so bad. I'll agree that the Media Encoder needs a little more work, but other then that, CS4 has been great for me.

My questions are these, is the new feaures for RED footage only, or will this be for all footage in PPro? Is this something we should expect to see in CS5? Will there be video made available of the presentation? Why isn't Adobe talking about this anywhere else?

Obin, these are because of the 4800Nvidia? What other hardware configuration? How's the dynamic link performance - Lim

My experience with Premiere has also been great. I like Media Encoder.

Really, why are things being kept so "SECRET"... Maybe they don't us to find out :Angel_anim:

Quadro CX is the 4800...your fine. :)

4800 will give everyone REALTIME effects...about 20+ at the moment...still just a "Tech Demo" though....but when it's baked. wow.
