The Corrupted is something we've been preparing to shoot for almost six months of fund-raising, writing, casting and special effects work.
We assembled a very talented team of up and comers for this project, including actors and crew to shoot the whole movie over a 14 day period
Some said we were mad but we ended up pulling it off only 2 days over schedule:
Directors: Myself and John Klappstein
Producer: Jason Thompson
Director of Photography: Kalon McClarty
First AD/Script Supervisor: Ashley White
Makeup Artist: Gina Cicero (Playboy TV)
Special Effects Coordinator: Robin Haynes
Fight Choreographer: Christian Richman
Light Plant Coordinator/Firearms specialist: Donald Lemay
This was our second film and it was an amazing experience from beginning to end. We did it all under very isolated conditions with no running water or electricity.
During filming three of us were hit by lightning, Cory Walsh, our Boom Operator, Mike Wheeler, the camera operator and our DP, Kalon McClarty.
The surge passed through Cory, then Wheeler, then Kalon and popped the Red One off the tip of the steady-cam arm and pitched it into the dirt.
Everyone saw Cory hopping on one foot and twitching, Wheeler hit the ground and couldn't feel his arm. Lightning started tearing up the sky and we all had to pick up our downed friends and run toward the cabin, all the while people are yelling and crying. I thought for sure Cory was gone because he couldn't talk and he was starting to move really slow. Some of his skin cooked out his leg.
Amazingly, my friends survived with only minor burns and rather than walking off the shoot for fear of it being cursed, they were all the more resolved to finish and stayed on until the end (although Cory never held a boom again)
...and the camera was FINE. Nothing wrong with it, NOTHING. All the footage was even still on the hard drive and it finished the shoot with us over the next 9 days. We thought for sure it was toast.
Here they are getting out of the hospital:
