  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Butterfly Circus - 20 minute short film

Thanks everyone for watching! I'm really glad to see everyone is enjoying it.
That was great.

What budget, if you know?

More technical details?
I know it was shot over the course of 4 days, and shot both "on-location" and on a soundstage.

I was an audio guy on set, so don't know too many technical details. It was actually filmed over the course of about 2 weeks. Most days on locations, 1 day was a soundstage in burbank. As for budget, I'm not too sure, but everyone kept saying it was being made on a shoestring budget.

Brilliant.

Beautiful!

Amazing short! Well done!

I just saw this film today and I have to say it was amazing. I've actually met Nick (the limbless man) before and he is a very sweet guy. He's hilarious too. I honestly think he should get into stand-up comedy.

Good job on all who worked on it. I seriously think it would be great if it was made into a feature. It would honestly be Oscar worthy in my honest opinion.

This film, as well as some of the other top films in The Doorpost Film project inspired me to assemble a team of filmmakers here in Boston and enter the 2010 competition. We begin shooting in December. I just felt the caliber of films I have seen on there is top notch and I'd love to be a part of it. We just had a creative meeting the other night, and everyone is just blown away by these films, with Butterfly Circus high on everyone's list. I remember telling people when I first saw it, not once did I think "wow, this is shot on RED". I just walked away saying, "that was a great movie".

I completely agree. I didn't think "Wow, this is some great Red footage" once throughout the whole movie.

Good luck with your project. I'd love to submit an entry but I'll probably do the contest next year. I've never done a serious drama (mostly comedy) but it really has inspired me to make a serious piece.

Though he wasn't the main character in this short, if you can get Doug Jones (the tall skinny guy), he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He's a very good actor as well to say the least.
