hi all

I just hav a doubt in FCP...i m not a big pro in FCP...
A film which is taken in red and edited in Fcp, we have a graphics or animated footage for 80 frames or so, but it doesn hav a timecode...how do i match the timecode of the edited version with the graphics footage which has come from outside...Could someone help me with this....

I suppose you have original clip as R3D and that is sent to AE or something for the compositing, then you received it back to insert it to your edit. And the composited clip does not have the timecode. If that is the case, you would have to place it on the second video layer of FCP over where the original clip is located, choose the clip on the time line, open it in the view (or double click) then make the transparency at 50%, so you can see both the composited clip and the original clip. You can use the slip tool to find the same frame.

thank u so much sir...but i don hav a prob in compositing or other things in fcp...but when the composited material or some other material which goes out for rope removal n things like tat...then when it comes bak, i don have the timecode for the footage...wat should i do for the timecode of the material which comes in after the effects n things are over...ppl say it has to be tracked manually...i.e, frame by frame...but can this be done automatically...without trackin it manually...

I explained how you can do it manually, but if you wanted to do semi-automatically then you need the time code.
