We have a Sony Anycast switcher and it works great with our current Canon XL1 cameras on live multicam productions. Now we are ordering four Red One Cameras and considering upgrading the cards in the Anycast to SDI and using Red Ones for our portable live shows. Has anyone used Red Ones to switch a live production? Does anyone have any experience doing this with a Sony anycast portable switcher? I understand Red Ones have 720p output. Will the images need to be cropped or scaled? If so, any suggestions for a tool for that? What other problems or issues might I run into. Any advice to consider? Any responses will be appreciated.

You may be best off overscanning the projectors (assuming that's the output).

The 720p tap from a RED ONE includes a "lookaround" area that's shaded darker than the active area.

Thanks for the links. The journey article was excellent. I should have known someone around here would have already tackled this type of task. And what an exciting way to do it.

And, the red center podcasts are a favorite of mine. I've d'loaded every one of them. But I had only listened to the first 31 so far. Now I'm off to skip up to 35 for the multicam info. It is cool to listen to all of the build stories and the things that have been solved and improved, and how these cameras and accessories have evolved. I am amazed at the talent around here.

Thank you again.

Actually, the "output" is usually streamed to an audience live online. But, having the option to replace the powerpoint briefings on the screens on stage with our red switched signal is something that I hadn't even considered. I appreciate the suggestions.

Hi Roger
The Sony Anycast Station Live Content Producer is a portable live production switcher. This all-in-one unit comprises a high-quality video switcher, an audio mixer, a large LCD display, and a streaming encoder and server. It accepts a variety of inputs from PCs, cameras, VCRs and Hard Disk Drives. It mixes audio and offers ME capabilities. This unit will easily integrate into a studio or location live production operation. I am never used Red Ones to switch a live production.

while we have done this last year with a grass valley (worked well) on build 16, we are now preparing for an upcoming sportsevent. (using as a slomo cam)
But when I remember correctly there was a way to switch off all data display on the HDSDI output, timecode display included. But in Build 20 I can´t find a way to do it.
Timecode is always present.

Is there a way to switch off Timecode on HD SDI out?

thx
alex

I thought 1080P can also be used for in-field monitoring.

I thought if you attach 3 (or more) monitors (eg EVF; LCD; and an HD SDI out), only the EVF and LCD will display timecode etc, leaving your HD SDI clean.
