  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Light wieght rod system.

I am looking for a light weight bracket for the RED that will enable me to mount the Arri SR Light weight rail system. Does anyone know of a person/company who already makes them?

Long Valley is OK and very light but needs its own 15mm rods.
Element Technica is a bit heavier and bulkier, but would admit exisring LW 15mm rods.

Don't know why you would need to make such a specific solution. For the cost of someone making an adapter for that old ARRI standard, one could get a RED-specific mount with the rods included. The length of those rods would be inappropriate anyway as the RED's lens mount sticks out so far from the rest of the body unlike the SR, which has the spinning mirror to clear.

Well, the Arri design is better than the Long valley one on several points. The rods don't spin, they are more parallel, and they are faster to mount. And the length should be perfect for most primes.

Darryl, I wanted the exact same thing, was going to make it, but bought the Long Valley instead. The LV is just so cheap, considering it would take a day to design and make one myself.
