I need a good reference monitor for color grading. The problem is that my budget is ridiculous....

U$3,000

What are some good options on that price range? Oh, well... Good is difficult but at least decent.

Right now, I am between a Dreamcolor and a Flanders Scientific 17". Are there any cons on using the Dreamcolor as a reference monitor? I mean it is a computer monitor not a broadcast monitor...

Any input is welcome!!

:cheers2:
Cheers,

Panasonic 1710?
17", just under 3,000 in USA... very good results, tested against Sony monitors several times more expensive...
Just saying...

I've seen many LCD displays including professional and mastering models and for the price point, DreamColor provides the best cost vs performance. I was able to adjust the DreamColor very close to the Sony Master monitor BVM-D24 and TVLogic's XVM-245W.

Panasonic works great especially looking at interlaced video, but in my opinion, it looks too greenish (to us Asians at least).

Some guys are talking about panasonic plasma 11 Series...
i did not play with, by the way.
Otherwise I have a Panny 1710, and i liked so much.

Best Regards

Flanders makes some very nice monitors...not really grading monitors but for the $$ a great option. I would consider stepping up to the 23" at $4999 it is a better display.
