According to the Red manual:
"Cross Jam: activates 23.98 from 29.97 fps time code sync. The RED-ONE camera will accept a 29.97 fps time base external Time Code signal and generate a synchronized 23.98 Time Code signal for use with the camera’s 23.98 fps recording.
Cross Gen: activates 29.97 from 23.98 fps time code sync. The RED-ONE camera will generate a 23.98 Time Code signal for use with the camera’s 23.98 fps recording, and also generates a synchronized 29.97 fps Time Code signal for use by an external device, available as an output from the 5-pin timecode I/O connector. Normally used with JAM SYNC off."

Now what happens when I am at 25.00 time base and want to sync to Reds to an external device which generate time code source?

if your shooting 25fps, then you need an external timecode generator that is generating at 25fps too. 23.98 (aka 23.976) and 29.97, from an audio perspective, are both exactly the same speed, and crossjamming is a simple and standard practice. 25fps is different, and thus needs to be specifically jammed to 25fps timecode.

cross jam whit Aaton Cantar

cross jam whit Aaton Cantar

I'm trying to sync a Aaton cantar whit the Red. The camera are in 23.98 timebase, crossjam. Cantar are in 29.97 and when i recive the signal and current shows in display, we don't have sync. So, wen in record, the sync seems to be in sync. Is it in sync or not?

In Sync?

In Sync?

The camera timecode display does only updates once per second when not in record.

So if it looks to be in sync when in record and the chain icon is present at the top of the screen, the answer is yes.
