I'm following the workflow that was posted here http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=31246&page=3

"1. RedRushes batch export all my clips to 720p ProResHQ files.

2. Batch Rename all the ProRes Files with an _H.mov at the end of the files name with A Better Finder Renamer. This tricks color into thinking your editorial files are proxies. NOTE: you must rename the ProRes files with the _H at the end or the conform won't work.

3. Edit, export EDL from FCP.

4. Open EDL in Color and point color to the original RED R3D Files source directory. Tell Color which resolution and frame rate I would like to work in up to 2K and presto, your edit is conformed into Color with access to the RED Tab and 12 bits of data information."

I did a test before doing the edit and it all worked fine but now that I've actually come round to moving to Color I can't connect to the R3Ds. The shot names in Color are not corresponding. Has anyone encountered this or a similar problem?

What version of Color are you using? Do you have all your R3D's on one drive in one location together or are they spread out on different drives? Are some clips linking and others not? Did you conform your offline clips down to Video 1 in your FCP timeline? Give more info.

All the R3D's are together on one drive and none of the clips are linking. All conformed down to video one. I'm really confused by it as I did a test following your guide and it worked perfectly but I just get it to work now.

The one difference is that I am using ProRes instead of ProRes (HQ), would this effect it? I've tried another test with ProRes and ProRes (HQ) but neither works now

Oh and it is version 1.0.4

Thank you for your help

Mike, its tough to diagnose your issue without seeing what's going on. This is NOT a bulletproof workflow however I have personally used this workflow a bunch on my own anamorphic and standard spherical projects. Are your clips totally unlinked in Color or are they just not linking properly? are you getting the RED Tab or only access to the ProRes files? Do you have a lot of spawned clips as your media?
Dustin has a good solution if your in a bind. Its pretty quick and easy to do as well if all else fails.

they are totally unlinked, i'm just getting the little red squares on the timeline. The red tab is available just not the footage. What do you mean by spawned clips?

Will have a try at Dustin's suggestion.

Thank you both for your help

Just having a look at clipfinder as I've not used it before. Is it possible to give me a quick idiot's guide to what I need to do?

build 20. Its just strange that it worked once but wont work now

Export your FCP timeline as an XML.
In Clipfinder go Tools --> Run Conform on FCP XML
Select the XML file, select output file, check replace clips with H proxie, adjust height & width to 2k, conform
Open the conformed XML file in FCP
Send to Color, save the Color project and close Color
In Clipfinder go Tools --> Fix Looping Bug
Select the Color project and run
Open the fixed Color project and go to work.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, the test was on the same build 20 footage that I am working with

Dustin, I can't seem to find the Fix Looping Bug option. I'm probably being stupid but I just can't see it

Sorry, just found color fixer on the clipfinder website

Now I'm a little confused, can I use this to connect back to the R3D's?

No, not available and it doesn't seem to have connected back to the R3D's. I also don't have the Tools menu in Clipfinder, am I working with the wrong version?

I would get the latest and 2.2 beta 6k version of Clipfinder.

But it sound like there is a problem with your Color. If you put one _H proxie on an FCP timelime and send that to Color do you get the Red tab in Color? If that doesn't work you might need to reinstall your FCP software. Make sure you use the right version FCS 2 or FCS 3. Red footage used to work in your Color right?
