I'm about to get some memory for my Mac Pro 3.2GgHz; here's my question:

Any advantage in getting 1GB memory modules over 2GB or 4GB modules?
Please enlighten me on this before I buy.

Thank you in advance.

For the best possible performance, you would want all 8 slots to be populated with identical RAM. That is a general exmaple, you don't have to do it that way, just need to match specs amongst corresponding channel pairs. Buying all 2GB modules is a nice option as that gives you 16GB... The 4GB modules are still too expensive and that much RAM doesn't make a whole lot of sense until more applications move into 64bit territory. There are some specialized apps out there and always those people who like to leave all their apps open all the time, so there are ways to soak up more than 16GB...

Hope I'm not stepping out of line by saying this. But I have 8x2GB of 800MHz DDR2 with heat-spreaders available for sale. It's a 16GB RAM kit for the '08 Mac Pro, purchased from OWC. PM if interested. I think I may have another buyer for it, but I haven't heard from him lately...
