Transcoding dailies shot on red 4k 2:1 to pro res 422HQ. 50% of my transcoded files are shorter in duration than my original clip. We're having to transcode multiple times to get a clip. It seems the larger clips, 2+ minutes are getting boged down and failing. Anyone have ANY ideas? Totally stuck as work flow is getting bogged down.

what are you transcoding from?

is the drive you are transcoding to formatted to fat32, or extended (journaled) as it should be?

using FCP L&T or RedRushes/Alert?

L&T does not like to be disturbed, doing anything else with the computer is a nono

L&T. We are doing a LOT of other things. Let me quite all that and see.

That is why.

You do know by the way that FCP is not multi-processor aware and will only use 2 of however many cores (4 or 8) your MacPro has...most people use RedRushes or Clipfinder, which uses all the cores and will transcode much faster...

Shut down all functions. L&T is still not transcoding all the material. L&T is terrible. Switched over to Red Ruches. Although the color space isn't as nice it seems to be working well.
