Has anyone seen the new camera that they have around here with the new color science???

Good lord Jim....really....I can't stop going to old footage and looking at how good it actually looks..in new RC build......WWWWWWOW

I hate everything I have finished till this point now ;)

even what I used to call "bad" shots look ok/good now...bad lighting is improved, bad hot images are more in range. HMI lights AND tungsten look great...looks like more range. blue channel is ....a channel now!!! fringing from bad lenses looks reduced a LOT.

Amariah and I are just cruzing old footage reel after reel going Damn. I wish I had this for Fatal Flaw.

Blush Blush... Am I the only one not seeing the difference? Please don't eat me alive. Can anyone post a before and after comparison. Thanks

Here, here. I don't see a difference either and would LOVE to see some comparison shots.

◦Any old projects that are loaded will maintain the original look on clips until a CTRL-RESET of the color grade is performed, which will switch that clip to the new color math.

I agree with Obin's delight. The camera is such a pleasure to work with. We have just come back from a shoot in some low light shots under tungsten lights - just beautiful.

I second that - could someone please post before and after pics? Maybe Build17 vs. Build20 or something like that?

Thanks!

If you really want to see how different it is then there is an important thing you have to do.

Open an OLD tungsten shot in the the NEW RED ALERT.
Open the same shot in an OLD version of RED ALERT.

Here you will clearly see the difference of how the new color science is processing Color and debayering.

I've noticed a big difference. Way less noise in low light.

I think "Dr. Jim" himself said it's like a whole new camera.

I just upgraded to today's firmware, 20.1.2 Maybe I can take an indoor shot and downgrade to the released build 17 and see the difference.

It's like a new Camera, again. hands down Fing awesome!

so much better!

I downloaded the latest Redcine, imported a low light clip and then played with the colour and curve settings to get it to match the clip in the old Redcine. I didn't see much difference at all, the blue channel was still pretty noisy.

Maybe Im doing something wrong?

maybe your camera is on an old build? although it should still be better...

My bet is your old clip is significantly underexposed. Not much the new color science can do to fix that.

Jim

Im travelling in this new color science too my friends.
And everything seems just great.
A whole new camera every new build...thank you RED team.

By the way with 20.1.2 ... Im shooting smmothly
Speccialy in comercial jobs.
