Having Build 20 with the new color science, being able to use the new color science on old footage and RED Rocket with ROCKETcine-X (the new RED Alert!/RED Rushes app for RED Rocket) is like having everything brand new again.

Re-grading old footage is a blast when you can see clips HQ in realtime. There is less noise and the color seems so much better than the 1st time around. Transcoding to DPX is truly "rocket-fast". I'm as excited as I was when we gave birth to the RED ONE. The best news about all of this is that what we have learned and what we are doing all translates to the next group of cameras. In the meantime, all this stuff is breathing new life into a RED ONE and older RED ONE footage. I had a hard time leaving ROCKETcine-X to make this post... :-)

Jim, is that software available yet? Does it come with the Rocket? We're getting ours tomorrow...

Glad to see you stoked Jim... At this point in time, does it look like production will sufficiently ramp up to meet a strong demand? Like getting a RED Rocket™™ off the shelf in 4 to 6 weeks, like in my case?

I am so excited about RED Rocket™™, I really think Red should consider putting together a discounted package to get the more expensive Scarlet, Red pro primes and a small discount on the card.
what's really important though is the ability to mix footage sources whilst editing with RED Rocket™™, say 35mm originated DPX files, with stills and other camera sources, will this be possible?
Also I asked you this b4 and you confirmed it, i just want to double check, will the new cameras be able to record non windowed 2k, ie 4k scaled to 2k in camera?

Also is Red Rocket future proof? Will it be able to work with the higher bit rated future R3Ds?

Still patiently waiting to take advantage of all the goodies that will be made to my avail by the Scarlet.......

EDIT: There's no chance of making a version of Red Rocket to accelerate a Mac laptop is there? :D

Software will be out in a day or two. Works terrific but Deanan is on bug patrol as we post...

Hmm...so what will it do tomorrow? Nothing real time?

You'll probably have whatever version is available tomorrow when you get your board. Realtime is now.

That screenshot looks awesome Jim - both the application and the footage! I can't wait to get my hands on REDCINE-X though - I'm guessing that's not included with the release coming in the next few days, right?

Does Redrocket mean the end of transcoding to formats like ProRes, Cineform, etc?

Or does it enhance the transcoding process to less than nightmare status?

Looking forward to seeing my R3Ds on a Premiere Pro timeline with realtime color correction, motion graphics, and transitions (including dissolves)... or is this still a dream? Even all of the above in a transcoded world would be mahvelous!

Saving every "red" cent for Redrocket.

Big love, Jim.

Great stuff, Jim. Looking forward to hearing user experiences on the Rocket! And looking forward to using one myself, when the pennies are saved up.

Great. Thanks for replying. New software looks excellent. Can't wait for Cine (and someone to write an XML conform tool, too).

Thanks. Great work to your team.

REDCINE-X is August.
