Because we now shoot our stop-motion on Canon Eos 1 D MkII stills cameras with Nikkor stills lenses I will be selling my set of K-35's.

I have been advised that they will fetch St£8,000.00 plus... any thoughts on that?

Thanks.

What can you tell us about the K-35's? I hear they are kind of legendary, but how? What makes them unususal? And aren't they ususally in BNCR?

In case the are BNCR mount, i still have a brand new RED adaptor. Its made by visual products. Al offers considered.

BTW, i own a set of K35, and the are undervalued. Big time.
I used to own a zeiss package and i found the K35 sharper with open lenses as the zeiss.

Secondly, the are superspeeds. Not bad at all

Hi Dusty,

They are 18mm, 25mm, 35mm, 50mm, & 85mm.

BNCR mount, but it is a matter of four screws to change mounts.

I used them on a Red with adapter for a friend's live action shoot a couple of weeks ago and they worked fantastically well.

They are T1.3

Really beautiful lenses. I will post some more pics.

Hi,

I used them a great deal before Cooke released the S4's, I prefered them to the older Zeiss glass.

Pardon my loss of brain function, I also have a set of Bausch and Lomb Super Baltar lenses which DOES contain a 25mm lens.

Of course the Canons K-35’s are 18mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm & 85mm.

contact Tonycovell@talktalk.net for a few private thoughts. Tony

Yes, we purchased a set from Tony and they rent constantly. They are a fantastic set and the mount from VP is top quality. Probably the best mount we have other than the Birgers.

The price mentioned is slightly higher than we paid, we got a set of 11 for less with mount, w/ 2x extender in great condition. But they are not T1.3s. I only say because if the price was right we might consider. They really do rent that often now that word is out we have the set.

There has been a set of K35 speeds on eBay for quite some time. Here's our set, thanks again Tony (did you sell the Spider dolly yet?)

What would it cost to convert them to PL mounts?

Is it just a matter of a swap?

M

It's not that easy to just swap out the BNCR mount on a lens to PL mount. I paid $5,050 for the conversion of all 5 lenses to PL and it took over 4 months to complete. That being said, theses lenses are truly amazing and we're putting them through their paces on an indie feature up here in Portland. Director, Producer and DoP are all sold on them..

I owned these lenses for a couple of years and I loved them, the 18mm is a bit softer than the others but in general they are wonderful lenses with beautiful flares and bokeh.

I prefered them to the Zeiss HS´s.

Conversion to PL is not too hard on the 24, 35, 50 and 85 but a bitch on the 18mm since the last lens sticks out quite a bit. I got a qoute for the conversion to PL for 500 GBP per lens.

The VP mount is great, if you only use BNCR, change between PL and BNCR Mount takes a couple of minutes.

It was hard for me to sell the lenses, but i´sold them for the RPP´s, but if i ever have enough money left over and find another good set, and there will be a BNCR Mount available for the Epic/Scarlet, i´d by another set.

best regards
Manuel

Let me chime in here since I did the conversions on Richard's lenses.
It's an absolute nightmare for the 35, 55, 85 lenses. Some even said here that it could not be done...
BUT:
Richard's lenses are not the same as the ones pictured in this thread. From the pictures they look like a pretty straight forward conversion. Just need to make some proper parts, they may even exist somewhere. It's not unusual for a rental house to have parts that convert lenses one way or the other..

I had them for many years. They where quiet sharp when opening 2.0/2.8 under that they were unfortunately very soft. When i used them on my Arriflex the colors where too saturated and had a very specific look (i would not say vintage look but different) but for B/W they were beautiful.Unfortunately these lenses are not that well built as standart Zeiss lenses. The bncr was a great solid mount, there was no need to change it.
