I have a music video coming up for a very high profile artist. We're doing a club and I want to use strobe units (lightning strikes or something similar). I know shooting on RED with strobe has been discussed to death here. But I couldn't find a straight forward answer for the most recent build 17. Could someone please tell me what strobe make/model, sync equipment I need and how do I physically sync it with the camera? Recommended shutter? What problems might I run into? Which rental house in NYC has experience with this?

As much as I love to spend a few days scouring threads, a nice to the point answer would be most appreciated. Also, looking for a NYC DIT for the 16th.

I think you'll need something with a slow burn. At one point I think the Martin Pros were recommended, the Mac 600.

Basically you need to have the strobe last long enough that it doesn't produce half frames. This can be achieved with the longer strobes.

I haven't heard of any techniques for synching, but perhaps others have done more of this kind of work.

Sounds like their DMX 3000 has the variability. What is the shortest strobe time you can have and not get the CMOS split exposure?
